Twelve contestants will each perform a 50-minute piano recital, with 10-minute breaks between each performance. There are no program restrictions in this round so the contestant may choose freely their repertoire. At the end of the round, 6 semifinalists are chosen to continue to Round II and a winner is selected for a $2,500 award presented by a Junior Jury of local young pianists who will judge alongside the Competition Jury during this round.

Please note due to unforeseen circumstances, only 11 contestants will be performing this competition. Round I Day 2 Evening Session will subsequently end at least 1 hour earlier.
Parking is FREE at the university in front of the Diane Bennack Theater (see map pointing to Theatre). Entry to this parking area can by entering from the Broadway Street entrance right across from CVS and Bill Miller BBQ, and then taking a left at the roundabout within the University campus.
The main entrance of the buidling is ADA-accessible. In the concert hall, there are a total of six ADA wheelchair spaces available in Row A (2) and Row X (4).
No food or drink besides water is allowed in the hall, though it is allowed in the lobby area(s).
Are tickets required for entry to the concert?
Yes, but they are free! (Seating not assigned)
Do donations count as a ticket?
No. Though donations are greatly appreciated and help to keep these events free & open to the public, you should select the correct amount of admission tickets for you/your attending party.

I registered for the round but forgot to select a session I wanted to attend. What do I do?
You can always go back in and register again for a session you missed, or cancel out a session you will no longer attend. Keep in mind you may have to reenter your information when registering again depending on your autofill/login preferences.
What if I forget to register?
An attendant at the door can help you register quickly and easily. We do not turn away guests if space is available.
If I registered and can no longer attend, what should I do?
If you cannot attend, we ask that you cancel out your free ticket order. This helps our ticket management process and eases the check-in process for attendants and guests the day of.
What do I show at the door/check-in?
Please have your printed or online ticket(s) ready when you get there. Please keep in mind that each person plus each session of this round has a separate ticket/QR code that you must present. If you lose your ticket, please tell the attendant your first and last name.
What are the current health protocols I need to follow?
Masks/social distancing is not currently required.

Can I take pictures or video?
No flash photography. We would love for you to capture and share your experience, but we do ask that you be conscientious of others and the artists during the performance so as not to disrupt the event.
