DAVID ELLIS
David Ellis is the Co-President of Black Feather Funding, a national commercial finance firm he co-founded with his twin brother in 2008. At Black Feather, he helped create asset-based lending focused on inventory, equipment, and receivables for small businesses that often relied on factoring. He gained extensive knowledge in assets during his time as president of Buxbaum Group from 1994 to 2007. There, he managed billions of dollars in asset liquidations across various industries, grew the firm’s appraisal business, and co-founded its distressed equity and lending divisions.
Earlier in his career, David worked as a consultant for Heinz companies. He developed inventory management tools and completed around $700 million in international acquisitions. He started his professional path managing liquidations and performing financial analyses as an independent contractor. He graduated from Texas A&M University and the YPO Harvard Presidents Program. David remains active in YPO and the International Order of St. Hubertus. He has been married to his wife, Kate, for 29 years.
