Musical Sprouts
Learning Through World Cultures!
Musical Sprouts® is an educational, arts-infused curriculum where students explore different countries and diverse cultures while learning social emotional skills and core classroom subjects.
What Makes Up Musical Sprouts?
Musical Sprouts® curricula engages elementary-level students (primarily 3rd – 5th graders) with lessons filled with engaging and upbeat videos, lesson plans and activities, all revolving around specific countries or cultures.
Full curriculum segments are produced with 10 lessons that cover elements of science, technology, engineering, arts & culture, math (STEAM) and other core subject matter, as well as various social emotional skills (SEL). Because Sprouts® is regularly adapted to suit different learning environments, modified segments are or can be made available given the specific need, such as “mini-segments” with one to three lessons, as an example. The curriculum can be modified to serve public, private, and charter schools, homeschool groups, online schools, after-school programs and transitional facilities.
Sprouts® curricula also integrates TEKS (Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills) and ELPS (English Language Proficiency Standards) which are curriculum standards and expections mandated by the Texas Education Agency/State of Texas.
Backed by Research
Our Musical Sprouts program is officially validated by science. A multi-year study in partnership with The University of Texas at San Antonio, published in the International Journal of Education & the Arts and UC Irvine’s Journal for Learning through the Arts, confirms that our global music curriculum drives significant gains in both Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) and STEAM content knowledge.
Culturally diverse music isn’t just enrichment: it is essential to how children learn, grow, and connect.
Curriculum Examples
By highlighting a different country or culture in each curriculum, Musical Sprouts® gives students a way to learn about the world that is fun and interactive. For example, you can study Social Studies and Science while learning about the different environmental regions and wildlife of India, or study Fine Arts while making a simple Chinese hand drum (bolang gu). Each lesson is also accompanied by an engaging video that highlights and provides visual and auditory reinforcement to what is being learned.

Testimonials
This year has been a good year and I love the exposure the kids are getting of different cultures. These kids would not have gotten this exposure any other place. These kids don’t leave their neighborhoods and the fact that you guys get to expose them to STEAM is an added bonus. Excited about the next year.
I think it is really cool that the kids are learning about different cultures and having fun at the same time. And they are learning about science, math, etc.. I think the program is huge.
My students were spell-bound by the Junior Delegation from Armenia. As I debriefed the children over the next several days, I was impressed with the number of details about Armenia that the students remembered. In almost all my classes, the comments included discussion of the precision of the dancers, especially the Warrior dance. Some of the highlights from their insights included fascination with the duduk and the young girl playing it. Almost every class wanted to highlight the young tenor soloist…Memories were made!
The kids have been excited about the lessons and don’t want them to end. They say, ‘Miss, can we go back to the Sprouts lessons to finish our work?’
