About The Artist
Robert Michaelson turns his camera skyward, observing the grandeur of astronomical phenomena in the night sky, the migration and flight of birds, and the nature of water in his stunning images for the "Natural Order" exhibition.
Largely self-taught, Michaelson’s photographic interests are centered around subjects that can get him outdoors. He is a passionate bird and wildlife photographer as well as an underwater photographer. He enjoys volunteering to photograph events produced by Musical Bridges Around the World, finding it exciting, challenging, and rewarding. “The rewards are great,” he said. “I’ve been able to photograph fantastic musicians like Hiromi, Vijay Iyer, the Janoska Ensemble, and The Gurwitz International Piano Competition.” Michaelson is the husband of Anya Grokhovski, founder and artistic director of Musical Bridges Around the World. He served more than 30 years in reserve and active duty in the United States Air Force, retiring from active duty in 2011 as a Colonel.
