Our Main Stage at McAllister Auditorium series begins on October 2, 2011 as we present the one-act opera in two scenes, Mozart and Salieri, by Rimsky-Korsakov; directed by Artistic Director of San Antonio’s AtticRep, Roberto Prestigiacomo, performed by world-famous Russian baritone bass, Nikita Storojev, and Chicago tenor, Michael Burgess; staged with period furniture and costumes, and performed in Russian with English surtitles.  This presentation marks MBAW’s first collaboration with AtticRep, in residence at Trinity University.  For more information please visit: www.atticrep.org

Indrajith Banerjee (sitar) in concert with Shantilal Shah (tabla)

The second part of the concert is a first-time partnership with the local Indian community, presenting a 45 minute feast of various genres of Indian Music, culminating in a grand spectacle of Indian dancers presenting a visual interpretation of music that blends East and West.  Sujata Venkateswar, an Indian classical vocalist, is the artistic director for this segment.  The program seeks to promote an understanding and an appreciation for the diversity and depth of Indian music.  The program will also serve as a preview to the Indian Music Festival (San Antonio Sangeet Utsav) to be held on Saturday, November 19, 2011.  For more information about the Indian Music Festival please visit: www.SangeetUtsav.org
