Musical Bridges Around the World will absorb the San Antonio International Piano Competition, which is held every four years.

“We are excited about presenting the 2020 San Antonio International Piano Competition and each competition thereafter,” said Anya Grokhovski, MBAW artistic director and CEO.

SAIPC President James Lucas said he is happy about the merger because it will open new doors for the organization. “It will introduce us to new relationships, resources, and creative input that will enable SAIPC to thrive in its mission of sponsoring international competitions and developing local talent,” he said.

Founded in 1983 and presented 12 times to date, the International Piano Competition provides an enriching musical experience for South Texas audiences.  Replay video from NOWCastSA webcast of the 2012 International Piano Competition here.

The next International Piano Competition will be presented in 2020. The weeklong event brings 12 of the world’s most talented young pianists to San Antonio to compete for professional artistic opportunities and cash prizes. Thirty performances by pianists, ages 20 to 32, are presented free and open to the public.

The mission of Musical Bridges Around the World is to unite, educate and inspire through culturally diverse performances and visual arts programming.
