This program will feature world-famous folkloric ensemble, Gibaro de Puerto Rico, known for their dynamic, fiery performances. The narrated musical historic presentation, staged with period costumes, will take us on a Caribbean voyage through the history of Latin music from its roots to the present. The first half will explore the influence of Taíno, Spanish, and African cultures, through Puerto Rican folkloric music that will make you sing and dance in your seats. The second half of the concert, Gibaro de Puerto Rico will bring us to the present time, with Caribbean mambo, merengue, plena and salsa. San Antonio’s renowned choreographer and the world-famous salsa master, Lee Rios, and his dancers will join for the ultimate salsa performance!
