Musical Bridges Around the World is proud to report another successful segment of our community outreach Kids to Concerts program at no charge to the schools visited!

Last Thursday and Friday Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh and percussionist John Hadfield visited 5 San Antonio schools: Eleanor Kolitz Hebrew Language Academy, Oak Meadow Elementary, Indian Creek Elementary, Kipp Un Mundo Dual Language Academy and Nimitz Middle School.

MBAW’s interactive and exciting program incorporated TEKS and STEM curriculum-teaching Syrian culture and geography through music.  About 2,500 children learned about rhythm & sound, history, ethnic instruments & arabic language during the 40 minute program.

Each program ended with a Q&A where the students were able to ask the musicians questions. Some of the questions were very interesting…(one little girl asked Syrian clarinetist Kinan if he was a snake charmer)!

Musical Bridges would like to thank board members Caleb Gonzales and Awilda Ramos for investing an enormous amount of time and effort into these concerts.

We are looking forward to our next segment (Flamenco from Spain) on April 10th and 11th!  For details on how to bring the Kids to Concerts program to your school please call Diana Tatu (210) 900-3081 or email diana@musicalbridges.org.
