Musical Bridges Around the World is proud to report another successful segment of our community outreach Kids to Concerts program at no charge to the schools visited!
Last Thursday, May 1st & Friday, May 2nd Grammy-nomitated Tabla Maestro Sandeep Das and Kathak dancer Urmi Samadar visited 5 San Antonio schools: Huebner Elementary, Odgen Elementary, Huppertz Elementary, Nelson Elementary & W.W. White Elementary.
MBAW’s interactive and exciting program incorporated TEKS and STEM curriculum-teaching the culture and geography of India through music.

About 2,500 children learned about rythm & sound, dance, history, ethnic instruments and the Bengali language during the 40 minute program.
Each program included a Q & A session where the students were able to ask the musicians many of their questions. Students at several of the schools asked the musicians how they were able to move their hands and feet so fast during their performance. This was a wonderful opportunity for the musicians to share the importance of practice in order to reach their goals and be the best that they can be!
MBAW would like to thank volunteer Cecily David and Board Members Caleb Gonzales and Awilda Ramos for investing an enormous amount of time and effort into these concerts. MBAW would also like to thank District 9 Councilman Joe Krier for sponsoring this program at Huebner Elementary.
