In celebration of Black History Month, this jazz offering features internationally known pianist and composer, Geri Allen. Hailed as “a jazz pianist who dares to follow an unmarked road” (The New York Times), pianist/composer Geri Allen is a true original. Rhythmically subtle yet startlingly provocative, Allen respects the jazz tradition, but refuses to be bound by it, and her original works journey into constantly adventurous areas, always seeking out new musical avenues. Since 1982, she has recorded, performed or collaborated with artists as diverse as Ravi Coltrane, Dianne Reeves, Bill Cosby, Jimmy Cobb, Betty Carter, and Mary Wilson and the Supremes.
