Round I – The Gurwitz 2024 International Piano Competition

Diane Bennack Concert Hall, Luella Bennack Music Center, University of the Incarnate Word 4301 Broadway, San Antonio, TX

Eleven (11) contestants will each perform a 50-minute recital, contestant may choose freely their repertoire. At the end of the round, 6 semifinalists are chosen to continue to Round II and a winner is selected for the Junior Jury Award.

Round II – The Gurwitz 2024 International Piano Competition

Diane Bennack Concert Hall, Luella Bennack Music Center, University of the Incarnate Word 4301 Broadway, San Antonio, TX

Six semifinalists will each perform a 50-minute recital, performing at least one work by a composer from their own country of origin and one work from a composer of Latin-American or Spanish origin. Three finalists and “Best Performance of a Work by Spanish or Latin Composer” Award are selected.

Round III – The Gurwitz 2024 International Piano Competition

Three finalists perform a work composed after 1950 and a newly commissioned chamber music work by San Antonio composer Dr. Aaron Prado with guest artists from the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra and leona player Vico Díaz. The winner of the “Audience Favorite Award” is also selected via live text-to-vote!

Round IV – The Gurwitz 2024 International Piano Competition

H-E-B Performance Hall, Tobin Center for the Performing Arts Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, 100 Auditorium Cir, San Antonio, TX 78205

Three (3) finalists perform with the Mexico City Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Orchestra artistic director Scott Yoo, renowned violinist and host of the PBS TV series “Now Hear This”. Winners of the Gold, Silver, and Bronze Medals are chosen.
