It has been a tremendous journey to arrive at this significant point in our history! Musical Bridges Around the World (MBAW) enters its 17th season with a great creative spirit and a year full of spectacular musical projects FREE and open to ALL!

The Musical Bridges International Music Festival – our second international music festival will take place between May 14 and May 24, 2015.  It will include one-of-a-kind cross-cultural offerings and will consist of seven concerts in three different venues:  Carlos Alvarez Studio Theater in the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts, San Fernando Cathedral and Ruth Taylor Recital Hall at Trinity University.

All concerts are free and open to the public with reserved seating for members followed by Meet the Artists reception.

MBAW’s innovative, cutting-edge international programing includes a brilliant parade of young and extremely talented guest artists.  Among others: Vijay Iyer – a phenomenal Jazz pianist – and the classical Brentano String Quartet;  San Antonio’s favorite Silk Road Ensemble members, Galician bag-piper Cristina Pato and Syrian clarinetist Kinan Azmeh; Armenian visual artist Kevork Mourad, Argentinian bandoneonist J.P. Jofre and Tango Master Claudio Asprea, Columbian harpist and master of world fusion, Edmar Castaneda; Fiery Entreflamenco, and Randy Weston with African Rhythm for the grand finale!  You will be taken on a journey around the world on a cruise-ship of talent, charisma, and out-of-this-world, beautiful music!

We are visionaries of a perfect world. We unite people one concert at a time by producing unique, multicultural performances. We educate, entertain and develop new audiences. We put talented, creative faces on tragic international news. We break stereotypes, we start conversations, we open people’s eyes and minds. We believe that exposure to the world’s cultures will change perceptions. Music enriches our lives by bringing us closer together while celebrating our cultural diversity. The MBAW International Music Festival is living proof that all cultures can live in peace. We hope you will join us to experience our next International Music Festival!

Together with our partnering performing arts organizations, we are well on our way to making San Antonio a cosmopolitan cultural center! Become a member of Musical Bridges and help us realize this vision as San Antonio transforms into a world-class music and arts hub. Your contribution at any level makes an incredible difference. MBAW is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization serving nearly 60,000 people a year. It is only with your support that we are able to offer the San Antonio community free, live entertainment of the highest caliber. Thirty percent of our budget is funded by federal and private foundation grants and local corporate sponsorships.
