Our 5th International Music Festival was held 27 January – 4 February 2018 with a lineup of amazing guest artists from 23 countries. The festival offered eight culturally diverse productions handcrafted into world-class masterpieces by Artistic Director, Anya Grokhovski and presented in the Empire Theatre and historic San Fernando Cathedral.

San Antonio Mayor Ron Nirenberg delivered remarks during the festival highlighting the power of the arts to bring people together by building bridges of understanding and collaboration.

The pièce de résistance of the festival was the International Sister City Ensemble. Jazz musicians from San Antonio’s Sister and Friendship Cities came together on 3 February for an unprecedented collaboration directed by San Antonio’s own Dr. Aaron Prado. Artists from 11 countries assembled to share their cultural roots and pay homage to our beloved City during her Tricentennial Year!

The concert lasted 180 minutes and a transfixed audience remained mesmerized throughout the performance. Several new friendships were forged in the making of this memorable production. The innovative concept is brewing new projects in San Antonio, around the country and is inspiring new collaborations across the globe as the concert was live-streamed by Trinity’s Jazz Station, 91.7 KRTU to the world!
