My husband Robert is obsessed with the Milky Way! He took pictures of it from different parts of the equator but like a lonely wolf is drawn to the moon. Rob is drawn to a Milky Way on every dark night. His pure love of nature significantly opened my mind to a world I would not be exposed to otherwise. Together we have visited many National Parks in the US and abroad. Our outdoorsy friends have been raving about Big Bend National Park in West Texas as the last frontier for the perfect dark sky. Music Bridges Cultures Around The World Students at Kuentz ES were treated to not one but two Grammy Award Winning artists as part of Multicultural Day activities on campus. Thanks to the efforts of Musical Bridges Around the World, Christina Pato and Victor Prieto visited the campus as part of Kids to Concerts, a free educational outreach program. The program introduces San Antonio children to faraway cultures from all over the world through folk music and dance. Musical Bridges Around the World recently completed its African phase of community outreach Kids to Concerts program at no charge to the schools visited. Originally from Senegal, Africa and New York City, African musicians Abdou Mboup, Mar Gueye, and Craig Rivers performed at 10 schools (Wanke Elementary, Steubing Elementary, Locke Hill Elementary, Oak Meadow Elementary, Red Oak Elementary, McDermott Elementary, Rayburn Elementary, Vestal Elementary, Kriewald Road Elementary and Colonies North Elementary) over four days last week and introduced kids to African culture through music, colorful folk costumes and ethnic instruments.
