After months of planning, scheduling and coordinating-the inaugural Kids’ World Music Festival debuted yesterday in the Laurie Auditorium at Trinity University.

About 1,500 students from all over San Antonio were bussed to Trinity for the one-of-a-kind festival. Students were introduced to cultures from Russia, Africa, and Spain during the hour-and-a-half program.

The Festival was exciting for all ages as students were in grades K-12.  Each 25 minute segment featured a different culture; teaching state curriculum compliant material through song and dance.  The exciting and interactive program ended with a sing-along of “This Land is Our Land.”

A teacher from Oak Meadow Elementary emailed MBAW after the program and shared that one of her students said, “it was AWESOME!!!!!”

Musical Bridges would like to thank BJ’s Restaurants’ Stone Oak location for providing 14 volunteers to help usher the students to their seats.  A special thanks to MBAW Board Members Awilda Ramos, Adriana Flores and Caleb Gonzales, volunteer Cecily David, Artistic Director Anya Grokhovski and Executive Administrative Assistant Diana Tatu for making the festival a wonderful success.
