Barry Brake

Barry Brake became a professional musician at 14. By his senior year of high school, he was playing piano gigs 5 nights a week. He earned a Composition degree from Baylor University, and then a Master’s in English literature from UTSA. He is now a freelance composer, arranger, performer, and producer of music. He’s a co-founder of the San Antonio trio the Jazz Protag- onists. His clients include the San Antonio Sympho-
ny, Texas MedClinic, Carlsberg Beer, Subaru, Jeep, SeaWorld, KFC, and the Wall Street Journal. He is also a bandleader and booking agent for events in San Anto- nio and all over the state. For over thirty years he has put together musical entertainment for hundreds of events and dozens of corporate clients. Barry Brake is a 29-year radio veteran, and current classical music host of Texas Public Radio’s “Classical Connections,” which reaches 130,000 listeners every week. He and his wife of 20 years, Cate, have two daughters, each into music.
