International Music Festival
The International Music Festival is an annual multi-week and multi-venue project featuring world-class artists in performances designed to unite audiences, one concert at a time by highlighting cultural diversity. The 2017 Festival will offer 8 concerts featuring artists from Indonesia, Cuba, Argentina, Spain, Armenia, and Canada. All festival concerts are presented free to the public. Five performances for larger audiences will spotlight highly acclaimed musicians, including a special performance by Grammy-nominated, international Jazz phenomenon Joey Alexander. Born in Bali, this child prodigy won the Grand Prix at the 2013 Master-Jam Fest at age 10. Jones Family Gospel Choir & Soul Fruit Singers, Cuban jazz pianist Gonzalo Rubalcaba and Tango night with JP Jofre’s Hard Tango Band will share their cultural musical treasure as a part of the Festival. Mozart Extravaganza will feature all time opera favorites. A new edition to the main Festival line-up, “Off the Grid” adds three evenings in smaller venues showcasing multimedia, cutting edge artists, including Grammy winning accordionist Victor Prieto, Syrian/Armenian visual artist Kevork Mourad presenting the multimedia play “Lost Spring,” and Canadian cellist Zoe Keating, who uses a foot-controlled laptop to create elaborate, layered compositions onstage.
