We currently are looking for a few strong new volunteers and board members to help us achieve our mission to:
Sponsor public competition among aspiring pianists from around the world, encourage development of pianists in Greater San Antonio and Texas, and promote the appreciation of piano artistry by the general public.
We are actively seeking people with a love of music and the skills and ability to help us continue to expand our programs and impact on San Antonio’s culture. We specifically need people who can lead the organization forward in artistic endeavors and programming, fundraising, event planning and logistics, marketing and communications and media content capture and management.
During the 2014/15 Season, SAIPC presented 18 classical piano events with more than 2,000 listeners in attendance. We continue to grow in scope and impact, bringing the beauty and inspiration of classical piano to San Antonio audiences, both seasoned music aficionados and those who are encountering this music for the first time.
To meet our mission and reach as many people as possible, the vast majority of SAIPC events are free of charge to the general public or offered at modest ticket prices. We have several programs targeted at achieving our mission:
Our Virtuoso Outreach program delivers free performances by accomplished professional pianists for the San Antonio community. Performances at Haven for Hope, the Neighborhood Place and Blue Skies of Texas are examples of this program.
The Piano Series brings professional pianists to San Antonio for inspirational and educational concert hall performances with affordable ticket prices between $10 and $20. See www.saipc.org for details.
During the 2014/15 Season, SAIPC introduced the Music Ambassador program. SAIPC auditioned young and talented San Antonio area pianists of high school age or younger and selected five of them as SAIPC Music Ambassadors. These promising young artists receive concert opportunities to build their performance skills while bringing the gift of their music to the San Antonio community. This successful program has expanded gradually; during the 2016/17 Season seven Ambassadors will delight listeners across the region.
And the next International Piano Competition is already being planned for the 2019-2020 Season. This Competition, held every four years, brings 12 of the world’s best aspiring pianists to San Antonio for 30 incredible performances that are free of charge for the general public. We are proud of the success of our 2016 Competition, our 12th.
season and are very much looking forward to an even more successful 2015/16 season. We hope to expand these programs and SAIPCs ability to touch the heart and soul of San Antonio’s citizens.
If you believe you have the experience and passion to contribute significantly to our mission we would appreciate the opportunity to discuss volunteer opportunities and possible board membership with you. If you are interested please contact us at your earliest convenience at firstname.lastname@example.org.
