Kids to Concerts (KtC) is a free educational outreach program that introduces San Antonio children to faraway cultures from all over the world thru folk music and dance. Kids to Concerts annually benefits 50,000 children in grades K-12 through interactive, multicultural performances by world-class artists of the highest caliber. This program is the first of its kind in the area, and is regularly praised by educators and children alike. KtC provides interactive concerts for children while integrating Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) Science Technology Engineering and Math (STEM) compliant curriculum with the inimitable experience of live performing arts.
Public education continually faces billions of dollars in proposed budget cuts, slashing and in some cases eliminating funding for music and arts education. Musical Bridges Around the World helps fill the void of music and arts education in public schools, providing engaging and culturally edifying musical presentations.
Kids to Concerts brings the rare, precious experience of live art — integrating music and dance with science, technology, engineering, and math — to San Antonio children who would otherwise not have the opportunity to enjoy live experiences of this caliber. With bright costumes, unique instruments, short educational videos, the new Kids to Concerts downloadable app and the vibrant energy of live performance, diverse traditions and music come alive for students, enhance their musical education while broadening their worldview.
Kid’s World Music Festival, as a part of International Music Festival Music Without Borders is a two-hour program featuring engaging interactive performances of Argentinian Tango, Spanish Flamenco and Russian folk dances that will take place in the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts in May 2015. This event is free and open to the public and presented specifically for kids in San Antonio and the surrounding area.
