Eric Miller, MD – President
Dr. Miller is originally from Pittsburgh, PA and founded the Central Texas Pain Center in 2004 in New Braunfels, TX. His practice now has over 7000 patients. He earned his B.A. in Biology from Washington and Jefferson College in 1995 and his medical degree from Baylor College of Medicine in 1999. He completed a one-year internship at Mercy Hospital of Pittsburgh and then completed both his anesthesiology residency and pain fellowship at Duke University. He is the owner of Hunter’s Creek Pharmacy and Positive Returns (a medical billing company). He is also a general partner for New Braunfels Sports and Spine Physical Therapy Center. In his spare time he enjoys travel with his family, tennis, and golf.
Bryan Helbert – Treasurer
Bryan Helbert is Senior Vice President and CFO of Raba Kistner, Inc., a 400 person Engineering and Consulting firm headquartered in San Antonio. He has served in this role for the past ten years and previously was the Corporate Controller for one of the largest engineering firms in the country headquartered in Fort Worth, TX. For the past eight years he has served as the Treasurer of the San Antonio International Piano Competition and previously was a volunteer with the Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in Fort Worth. He has been active for many years with Financial Executives International (FEI) an international organization of over 10,000 financial professionals. Mr. Helbert enjoys a variety of musical genres, cycling and is an active practitioner of Ashtanga yoga, an intensely physical and athletic style of yoga.
Arseni Grokhovski – Secretary
Arseni Grokhovski holds a Master of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, McCombs School of Business and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from St. Mary’s University, School of Law. He currently serves as Corporate Counsel – Procurement at Tesoro Corporation, a Fortune 100 refining and marketing company in San Antonio, Texas. His legal practice focuses on construction law, licensing, and business law. In his free time, Mr. Grokhovski enjoys playing water polo, international travel, and playing piano and harmonica.
Dominic was born in Philadelphia, PA. He attended high school in Jacksonville, FL before returning to the Northeast for college. While attending the University of Rochester, Dominic discovered his passion for the financial services industry. Dominic Anderson is a Financial Consultant. He has over 8 years of experience in his field, including 2 years as a Financial Analyst for a major financial services company and 5 years of financial planning experience. He is a Certified Financial Planner. Dominic is also passionate about supporting young people, animals and the fine arts. He has spent time volunteering for Family Services Association, the San Antonio Humane Society, and Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Antonio while residing in San Antonio for the past 7 years.
Yurii D. Borshch, MD
Dr. Borshch obtained his Fellowship in Pain Management and completed his residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. He later practiced as an assistant professor and Chronic Pain Clinic Director at The Department of Anesthesiology at Queen’s University, Kingston, ON, Canada for seven years, and in private practice for three years in upstate New York. Before moving to North America, Dr. Borshch practiced as a general surgeon in the former USSR. Currently Dr. Borsch is practicing medicine in San Antonio and is a founder and owner of Precision Spine and Pain Management. In his spare time he enjoys scuba diving and great music.
Frank Stenger-Castro was born and raised in San Antonio. He attended the University of Texas at Austin where he obtained a bachelors degree in Plan II Honors and also a degree as a Doctor of Jurisprudence. Prior to his recent retirement, Mr. Stenger-Castro was Deputy General Counsel, world wide, at Akin Gump Strauss Hauer and Feld. He has also served as General Counsel at the San Antonio Water System, Deputy General Counsel at the United States Department of Agriculture, General Counsel at the Texas Worker’s Compensation Insurance Facility and Special Counsel at the FDIC. In 2012, he was named by Texas Lawyer Magazine as one of Texas’ forty best in-house counsel. Mr. Stenger-Castro has also served and been an officer on the boards of the San Antonio Symphony, the Chamber Orchestra of San Antonio, Attic Rep, the Youth Orchestra of San Antonio, Blue Star Art Space and the Texas Human Rights Foundation.
Adriana Flores was born and raised in San Antonio, Texas. She graduated from Texas A&M University at College Station with a Bachelors Degree in English. She obtained her Master of Science in Information Studies from the University of Texas at Austin. She worked for the San Antonio Public Library for 10 years and left as a Branch Manager of the Johnston Library. Her love of literature, music and education returned her to work with her family business, Alamo Music Center. She runs Alamo Music Center with her two nephews, continuing its history into its fourth generation. She shares her love of music and the arts with her two sons, as they learn and explore all forms of arts in San Antonio together.
Susan C. Franklin
Ms. Franklin is Co-Founder of Franklin Companies, a fully integrated multi-family and senior living community industry leader where she guides Franklin Park’s brand, design, and first impressions management. In June 2014, Susan and her husband, Aubra, were awarded the prestigious EY Entrepreneur of the Year designation for Central Texas. Susan’s leadership of Franklin Park was honored in December 2014 with the cover article for the statewide launch of NSIDE Texas Magazine, and she was also named a Gala Honoree for NSIDE Texas Magazine. Ms. Franklin is a Bexar County Performing Arts Center Foundation board member where she serves on the Building Committee and is a Founders’ Network Co-Chair. In her role, Ms. Franklin worked with the design and development teams that brought forth the vision and the necessary support making the Tobin Center for the Performing Arts a reality. She contributes her resources and talents furthering the mission of many cultural and philanthropic efforts, including hosting notable musicians such as Nobuyuki Tsjuii, 2009 Van Cliburn International Piano Competition Gold Medalist. Mrs. Franklin is a 2016 Creative Arts Inductee of the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame and was profiled in the January 2017 cover story of San Antonio Woman Magazine.
Vernon Haney is a native of downtown San Antonio and a 32 year partner of HEB Grocery. He currently serves in the capacity of Program Leader within the Construction Division of HEB Facility Alliance. Vernon has served on the Board of Directors for the Hispanic Contractors Association of San Antonio, is currently a member of the TAMU Construction Industry Advisory Council as well as the Board of Directors for The Playhouse San Antonio. He is a passionate art collector and enjoys occasional guest lectures in the Department of Construction Science at Texas A&M University. His extracurricular activities include solo wilderness backpacking, designing-building furniture, and writing poetry.
Cris Houston teaches Business Law and Employment Law at Texas A&M University-San Antonio, and she has 14 years of experience as professor of law. For 8 years, Cris worked as a Legal Writing Program Director at 3 law schools. Cris is licensed to practice law in Texas and has 11 years of experience in wills and estate planing. She takes pride in developing a good relationship with her clients, listening to her clients’ needs, and working hard to meet her clients’ needs. Cris earned her Bachelor of Science in Finance magna cum laude from Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia. She obtained her Doctor of Jurisprudence from Harvard Law School in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
Anne Johnson comes to MBAW with a background in the management and administration of public, private, non-profit and for-profit organizations. Her work has spanned a range of industries including health care, education, manufacturing, regulatory compliance and government services. A resident of San Antonio since 2002, she has enjoyed leadership positions with various community human service and arts organizations here, including San Antonio International Piano Competition, WINGS, Inc. (provider of breast cancer treatment for uninsured/underinsured residents of central Texas), Tuesday Musical Club Artist Series, Olmos Ensemble and others. She and her husband, Bruce Johnson, are avid supporters of San Antonio Symphony and Maestro Society. Her educational background includes degrees in Marketing (BS) and Management (MA), and postgraduate study in Adult Continuing Education.
Born in Chittagong Bangladesh, Waheeda migrated to the United States in 1981 and has resided in California and Texas since. She has served as a National Board Member for FOCUS Humanitarian Assistance, USA and as the Vice Chairman for Aga Khan Foundation USA, Southwest Region. In 2008 she founded the Muslim Cultural Heritage Society. Currently, She is the President of National Inter Organizational Collaborative and Vice Chairman of the SoL Interfaith Center, at University Presbyterian Church. Waheeda was just recognized by the State of Texas with a Civic Engagement Resolution for 30 years of Civic Service in Texas. Her favorite title however is ‘proud mother of 3.’ Waheeda and her husband of 26 years, Nooruddin have two daughters, Shaya (22) and Tabreez (17) and a son, Kas (16). Waheeda’s hobbies include poetry, music, art, public speaking and event planning.
Barbara Lind, Senior Vice-President of Corporate Development Seno Medical Instruments has more than 25 years’ experience in strategic sales, marketing, new business development and fund raising. Seno Medical Instruments is a San Antonio Texas based medical imaging company with a ground breaking technology for cancer diagnosis. Barbara was a founding member of Harvard University’s Center for Children’s. She also founded the JFK School of Government Women’s Leadership Board where she served as a Board member and chaired the Strategic Planning Committee. Barbara served on the Board of the Interface Foundation, a leading center of holistic health and education; where she chaired conferences and galas. Barbara is a former Board member of Project Step, the foundation started by Ann Hobson Pilot to promote racial and ethnic diversity in classical music.
Mr. Martin is Managing Partner & CIO, Martin Capital Advisors, and is an active participant in the Austin and San Antonio communities through leadership positions, including the San Antonio Public Library Foundation, the San Antonio Museum of Art Contemporaries, the Thomas Jefferson Center at the University of Texas, the San Antonio Artist Foundation, and the Center for Innovation and Technology Entrepreneurship at UTSA. He is an active member of the CFA Societies of Austin and San Antonio, the alumni association of the San Antonio Masters Leadership Program, the Rotary Club of San Antonio, the San Antonio Business and Economics Society, the Harvard Business School Club of San Antonio, the Association for Corporate Growth and the World Affairs Council of San Antonio. He is a lifetime member of the Naval War College Foundation and the UDT-SEAL Association.
Chuck Parrish served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, Secretary of the Board and Chief Compliance Officer of Tesoro Corporation (now Andeavor), a Fortune -100 refining and marketing company until his retirement in April of 2016. Chuck has been a Jazz DJ with KRTU 91.7 since 1990 and is a serious jazz historian, with a personal vinyl collection of over 3500 LPs and CDs. Along with his good friend Dr. Bradley Kayser and with the help of MBAW, he has co-produced over 20 jazz concerts through the years hosting internationally recognized jazz musicians such as Charles Lloyd, Billy Hart, McCoy Tyner, Randy Weston, Kenny Barron, Joe Lovano, Geri Allen, Gonzalo Rubalcaba and many more. Mr. Parrish received his BA with Distinction and High Honors in History from the University of Virginia, followed by his JD from the University of Houston. He is a native Texan and has resided in San Antonio with his wife Anne since 1989. Their children Cecile and Charles both were born and raised in the community and both live in San Antonio. Since retirement, Chuck has begun section hiking the Appalachian Trail and finds it an adventure in the beauty of nature as well as an exercise in gratitude.
Awilda I. Ramos, MD
Dr. Ramos has served on the Board of Directors for Musical Bridges Around the World for seven years, three as President. She was born in Puerto Rico, obtained her medical degree at the Universidad Central del Caribe, Puerto Rico, and completed her Pediatric Residency at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas. After 30 years, she retired from the Army Reserve with the rank of Colonel in 2010. She currently practices Pediatrics in New Braunfels, Texas and is a sub-investigator at Central Texas Heath Research. Both, she and her husband, Dr. Luis R. Ramos, and their two children, Luis and Rafael, share a love of music and art.
Rafa J Veraza
Rafa J Veraza, originally from Mexico City, has spent most of his early career working with non-profit organizations and international organizations such as the World Health Organization, UNICEF, Rotary International, Caritas Internationalis. He is a graduate from the Honors College at the University of Texas at San Antonio with a degree in Biology were he focused on Neurobiology studies. He was the recipient of a Rotary International Ambassadorial Scholarship to represent Rotary International in Botswana and Southern Africa after his undergraduate degree. While in Botswana he worked with WHO, and Baylor College of Medicine on several HIV public health projects. After completing his year in Botswana he was the recipient of an NIH Fogarty Fellowship to study his Masters in Public Health at Emory University. After his studies, his passion for serving others led him to participate as a consultant for UNICEF to work with the Global Polio Eradication Initiative in Angola. Rafa currently resides in San Antonio with this wife Lisa, he is pursuing a PhD in Translational Science at the Health Science Center and runs his own business Global Direction Consultants, helping non-profits and individuals with financial programs for significant living and giving.
Jaime Waltman is the owner of JLen Events, founded in 2008. She has over 15 years experience with event production, marketing, public relations, employee engagement and hospitality services. As the owner of JLen Events, Jaime exemplifies a strong service acumen, with trademark energy and positivity that builds and maintains constructive alliances with vendors and clients. The collaborative approach to vendor relationships supports prudent and careful execution of events. Jaime resides in San Antonio, Texas with her husband (Jack), 2 sons (Aden-9 years & Deacon- 2 years) and 2 year old black lab (Blanche). She is always ready with some pictures if you ask! She is a proud alum of the University of Texas at San Antonio. When she’s not planning fabulous events around the country you can find her practicing her culinary talents, enjoying a local yoga class, volunteering at her son’s school or working on her many furniture rehab projects.
Maria de Fatima Winsborough
Maria de Fatima Winsborough (Fa) was born in Brazil and lives in the US since 1985. She was Psychologist in private practice in Brazil and a Dancer since an early age. She earned a Master’s at UTSA and became a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor. She attend the certification program to become a “Certified Movement Analyst’ at the ‘Laban Institute of Movement Studies’ in New York. As a Dancer Fa has studied, taught and performed in many cities in Brazil, the US, Canada, Indonesia, and Japan.. She attended the intensive Training in “Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction” with Dr. Jon Kabat-Zinn, the Director of the Stress Reduction Clinic at the University of Massachusetts. Currently Fa resides in San Antonio, Texas, where she created and directs “Luminous Counseling Center” where she works as a Psychotherapist, teaches Mindfulness based classes, Movement and Art Integration, and when time permits she leads the Genuine Improvisation and Spontaneous Dance Group “Stardust Dance Company”.
Stan O. Zebrowski, D.D.S.
Dr. Zebrowski was born and raised in Kharkov, Ukraine, and started his dental education at the Kharkov State University, School of Dentistry. Upon relocating to United States, Dr. Zebrowski enrolled in University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio where he earned his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, graduating with high honors. During his free time, Dr. Zebrowski enjoys sports, traveling and spending time with his family and friends. Dr. Zebrowski is an active member of the American Dental Association, San Antonio District Dental Society, and Texas Dental Association. Dr. Zebrowski is a founder and co-owner of a Northwood Dental Spa located in San Antonio Texas.
